Emu Plains Juvenile Justice Centre

Emu Plains Juvenile Justice Centre in Western Sydney is a 50-bed centre primarily for young people who have not been sentenced or have been refused bail by the courts.
The centre was opened in early 2009.
Young people are brought to the centre from either Cobham Juvenile Justice Centre in Werrington, Reiby Juvenile Justice Centre in Campbelltown or Frank Baxter Juvenile Justice Centre in Gosford. No admissions are taken from NSW Police.

How to get there
Public Transport: Emu Plains Railway Station is the closest railway station, on Old Bathurst Road. The centre is approximately a 5 -10 minute walk heading west from the station.
Private Transport: Take the Great Western Highway through Emu Plains. Turn right at the set of lights near Emu Plains railway station. Drive under the rail bridge and the centre is located approximately 500 metres on the right. Alternatively, you can travel west on the M4, turn right at the Emu Plains / Russell Street exit and follow that road for approximately four kilometres. Turn right at the Old Bathurst Road roundabout, travel for approximately one kilometre. The centre is located on the left hand side of the road.
Visitor Information
Bookings: All visits at Emu Plains JJC must be pre approved and booked in advance by contacting the Centre.
Visit times: Monday and Thursday: 10.30am – 12.30pm
Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday: 3.30pm – 5.30pm
Saturdays and Sunday: 10.30am – 12.30pm and 2.30pm – 5.30pm
Conditions: The number of visitors who can attend an arranged visit is limited to two approved visitors at any one time, and young people are permitted to two visit sessions per week. The length of each booked visit is 45 minutes.
Health
Justice Health provides registered nurses for general healthcare of young people.
Other Services
The centre has a Psychologist and Alcohol & Other Drug counsellor offering support for young people in custody. The centre does not offer a structured educational program since it only provides short-term accommodation, however the centre does offer a range of recreational activities.
