Broken Hill Juvenile Justice Centre

Broken Hill Juvenile Justice Centre is an eight bed short-term remand unit for young people who have not been sentenced or have been refused bail by the courts.

The operation of this centre enables young people to attend court in Broken Hill or have contact with their family who may live in the local area.

How to get there

Public Transport
The centre is a short taxi ride from the airport and railway station.

Private Transport
The centre is located in Chloride Street Broken Hill, between Mica and Lane Streets. Car parking is only available on the public streets.

Visitor Information

Bookings:
Visits must be booked by phoning (08) 8088 6321 between 8am and 4pm. Legal visits do not require
bookings.

Visit times:
2pm to 2.30pm, 2.30pm to 3pm and 3pm to 3.30pm daily.

Conditions:

Each detainee can have no more than three visitors at a time and these must be pre-approved persons.

Health

Justice Health provides registered nurses for general healthcare.

Other Services

The centre does not offer structured programs since it only provides short term accommodation for court appearances or family visits.
