Careers

The NSW Department of Juvenile Justice offers a wide range of career opportunities where you can work with young people or where you can work in the support services of the department.

We can offer you an enjoyable and rewarding career with excellent working conditions which include extensive training and a career path. Our positions are based in the department's four areas of service:

When positions within the department become vacant, it is the department’s practice to advertise them on the NSW Government Jobs website, which can be accessed via www.jobs.nsw.gov.au. Every position advertised states the minimum requirements which you must have – this may include qualifications, skills and experience. We often advertise in the Saturday’s edition of the Sydney Morning Herald, regional press and various cultural press. For more information on applying for a position refer to the 'how to apply for a position' section.

The department encourages applications from all suitably skilled and motivated people, particularly Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders and members of other EEO groups.

Should a position suitable to your interests and qualifications be advertised in the future, the department would welcome an application from you.

Note: It is an offence under the NSW Child Protection (Prohibited Employment) Act 1998 for a person convicted of a serious sex offence to apply for a child-related position. Information on the Working with Children Check is located at www.kids.nsw.gov.au/check.
